Fire-King by Sonnyboy Vintage
In the 1940s, the Anchor-Hocking company released a line of cost-effective, attractive and oven-proof glassware under the line “Fire-King.”
The most iconic product from the line was green milk glass called “Jade-ite.” These glassware pieces were made from borosilicate glass which made the material able to withstand extreme temperatures without breaking.
Multiple design lines were created, one of which is their iconic “Restaurant Ware” line. The line was offered to dining establishments being marketed as extra durable while still being cost effective. The line consisted of plates, mugs, cup and saucers and other more unique items like ashtrays and even egg-cups.
The line lasted from the 1940s to the 1970s and was later on discontinued. The utilitarian nature of the product meant that they were used for their purpose over the decades. Some pieces are still found in closed down diners, some in home attics and sometimes even unused in their boxes in abandoned warehouses and storage.
